Europa Nostra UK Annual Programme of events 2011 Portsmouth (in association with the Fortress Study group and the University of Portsmouth)
 
The UK Group of Europa Nostra will this year meet in Portsmouth between Saturday 10 and Tuesday 13 September 2011, with a theme of “In Defence of the Realm” considering our military and naval heritage. Events include a walking tour of “Nelson’s trail”, a visit to Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, a conference dinner and excursion to the Isle of Wight.
On Sunday 11 September 1700: The Duncan-Sandys Memorial Lecture will be delivered by Duncan Wilson OBE, Director, The Greenwich Foundation, and on Monday 12 September, a one day conference on the theme will be held in the University of Portsmouth. ‘Clearly Obscure’ - talk by Tracey Sheppard FGE

Tracey Sheppard is an internationally known glass engraver and a past Chairman of the Guild of Glass Engravers. Her work in Hampshire can be viewed at Winchester Cathedral where she engraved the glass panels in the Epiphany Chapel, Romsey Abbey, St Jude’s Southsea, and churches in Hurstbourne Tarrant and Brockenhurst, to name but a few.
Tracey’s work is also in a number of private collections including that of Her Majesty the Queen, the late Queen Mother and the Sultan of Oman. Tracey lives in Winchester close to the Hyde Abbey Garden where she designed the glass panel destroyed by vandals last year. She is now working on its replacement.
