HOME OWNERS DAY - A ONE DAY COURSE
FOR PEOPLE WHO OWN OR CARE FOR OLD HOUSES...
OR ARE THINKING OF DOING SO...
 
Hampshire Buildings Preservation Trust is organizing a one day course, on FRIDAY 18TH MAY to be held at Bursledon Brickworks, Swanwick. Anyone is welcome, but it is particularly aimed at those who own older properties, or are planning to do so. The course will start at 9.30am and end at 4.30pm. Tea and coffee will be provided but participants are asked to bring a sandwich lunch.
 
Interested participants will be able to take a short introductory tour of the Brickworks at lunchtime is they wish.
 
The morning session will be led by Simon Goddard of the Simon Goddard Partnership, who will cover a range of topics including the planning process (understanding the structure, repairs etc) , building control and regulations, and alterations and additions. Case studies will be given.
 
After lunch Richard Baker, formerly of Eastleigh Borough Council will lead a session on The Planning Authority, which will include the role of the Conservation Officer and Architect, protection procedures, Listed Building Consent, Conservation areas etc.
 
The final part of the day will be led by Ray Moseley of Hants & Sussex Restoration, and will be devoted to repairs and maintenance, including good and bad practice, and the use of traditional materials.
 
The course fee will be £50 for non-members of HBPT
 
(fee includes individual membership for 2012 of HBPT) and £35 for individual members of HBPT.
